Halloween skeleton craft fun!

Happy October! Time is just flying on by… Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s time to have some fun with decorations, crafts, and more!

Halloween Craft Idea

Since the weather in New England is starting to get chilly, we have been finding more indoor activities to do as a family. Last year, we came across this cute idea of creating cotton swab skeletons online, and here’s our take on it.

Swabs

My husband, Michael, is very particular with the swabs we use in our household. For our baby shower (over three years ago) we got gifted these safety cotton swabs that we tried using for a little while. Apparently these “safe” swabs didn’t cut it for him.

Because I don’t like throwing stuff away, I stored them in my basement with my craft supplies. They have been waiting patiently to make an appearance!

Finally, during Halloween last year we got crafty!

Skeleton Craft Creation

Materials needed:

  • Newspaper / junk mail 🙂
  • Black construction paper
  • White paint (washable)

  • Glue (liquid)
  • Cotton Swabs (any kind)
  • Eye balls (optional)

Directions:

Spread out newspaper to cover table and set up your white paint, brushes, glue, cotton swabs, and black construction paper. Get creative.  Abstract art is super fun for the littles. And, if your little one can recognize and write letters, you can incorporate ABC’s and voila – another learning experience!

Project Goals:

  • Fine motor skills
  • Creative arts

  • Literacy

Here are our skeleton creations:)
